Author Patrick Koneval delivers a thoughtful glance into the possibility of divine intervention in people’s lives. The interplay between main character, Daniel, and his angelic visitor, Andrew, is a dynamic every person would hope to have – a true guardian angel to provide guidance and the promise of security – in the often difficult journey called life. Fans of sports fiction would enjoy this novel as Daniel’s mission sends him to each major professional league to demonstrate his newly-discovered abilities. Angels or Virtual Visions encourages readers to look for ways to trust God’s influence in their lives through Daniel as he follows the path set out for him. Koneval develops a thought-provoking theme with simple, straightforward story-telling.

I have always talked to God and prayed, but as I was reading, and after I finished reading, my prayers became more real.  I had faith before I read this, but, you know when it has been winter for way too long, and then finally there is a nice day?  You go outside, and you just think WOW, this is amazing.  I forgot how great warm weather makes me feel!  It is like the winter slowly makes you depressed and then when it is nice, you realize you didn’t even notice you weren’t as happy anymore until, BOOM.  Reading it just gave me that BOOM with my faith.  I know I have felt what I am feeling now, but I forgot how strong it could be.
I love how genuine it is.  It didn’t feel like I was reading a book.  It made me feel like I was there.  I liked when I had to use my imagination, especially the part about what heaven is like.  I think that part is perfect because it isn’t too much, but it still makes you think for just the right amount of time.
For anyone looking to have a deeper faith, I recommend reading this book.

Angels or Virtual Visions offers a refreshing new take on religion and spirituality. Koneval presents a perspective that will force readers to think, listen, and observe. The main character, Daniel, is a relatively ordinary, family man who experiences an extraordinary intervention from God that enhances not only his own faith, but the faiths of those around him. His relatability reassures readers that the possibility of God’s influence in their lives is real, it is powerful, and it is beautiful. After reading this eye-opening story, readers will undoubtedly begin finding God’s presence in unusual places and strengthening their faith in this recognition. Koneval seamlessly explores profound ideas with a simple writing style, making this book perfect for readers of all ages.

Patrick Koneval, in his book Angels or Virtual Visions, offers to the reader a simple question, but one with profound implications.  The question is What if?  What if not only angels and God exist, but what if angels and God actually do at times interact with people here on earth.
Whether one believes in the principles of Christianity or not, it is an intriguing promise to speculate what such an encounter would be like.  Koneval presents such a situation.  The author of Angels or Virtual Visions uses his main character, Daniel, to explore the what if of such an encounter.
Daniel is an average, everyday kind of guy, just living a normal relatively uneventful life.  His comfortable life changes forever when he comes face to face with the angel Andrew.  Andrew has something for Daniel to do, a goal for him to strive for.  The goal is to turn people back to God, by getting people to think about God, and to get people to realize that God really does exist, and loves all his people.  This is no simple goal.
The seemingly impossible task is made viable by the idea presented in this book that “all things are possible through God.”  Koneval uses professional sports as the way that Daniel gains incredible, yet unlikely, success and therefore, the attention of a doubting world that is needed for him to pursue the goal given to him.
Throughout the book, Koneval presents the reader with thought provoking questions and ideas.  He does not however, promote his own personal beliefs but rather inspires the reader into exploring and reflecting about their own life situation.
As stated within the book, one can “extend their hand” to ideas such as what if, or turn their back on this opportunity.  Those who choose to turn their back will miss out on an engaging journey into self-discovery.
